Rango Ka Raja
Imagine a world without colors. Hard to picture, right? Life thrives in color, a simple yet profound message beautifully conveyed in this masterpiece created by our artisans in the jail. Bantu, Bhupendra, Ramtudu, and Kaluram, express how deeply they feel the importance of colors after experiencing the faded, empty life in jail. Art becomes their only escape, and the bright-colored yarns for the Manchaha rug light up their spirits. When they first received the vibrant yarns, their eyes gleamed with excitement. Each artisan chose their favorite colors: Ram took the bright reds and oranges, Bantu chose the cool blues and greens, while Bhupendra and Kaluram decided to weave the most intricate designs in the middle. They joked about how women have the privilege of wearing such bright colors and even decorate their faces with makeup. Embracing this idea, they wove designs of bangles, eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks, and bindis on the hand-knotted rug. It was unusual for the other inmates to see the weavers excel at creating feminine designs, and this carpet quickly became a hit, attracting everyones eyes. Thus, the artists aptly named their rug "Rango Ka Raja," meaning the King of Colors.
